Job summary

Job description

The post holder will provide comprehensive operational support across Hotel Services. The post holder is required to undertake Portering, Transport duties, Catering, Domestic and Linen duties as directed by the Hotel Services Supervisor in accordance with specification standards and Health & Safety legislation. Duties will include working in chilled & freezer units.

Main duties of the job

Main duties the post holder will undertake:

Portering:- Collection, transportation and delivery of equipment, linen, stores, waste, gases and catering supplies etc.

Transport:- Travelling between Health Board sites to carry out duties as required.

Catering:- Preparation and regeneration of meals and snacks for patients and staff working. Working in a chilled and freezer environment managing stock and supplies for patient feeding.

Cleaning duties as required by the department.

Linen:- Collection of dirty and delivery of clean linen as required. Responsible for distribution and putting away patient clothing. Curtain changing as required.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
  • NVQ Level 2 (Catering/Customer Services/Cleaning) or Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Or Undertake a period of Induction to include Basic Food Hygiene COSH Manual handling
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation as related to Domestic/Catering /Linen Services e.g. Food Hygiene, COSHH regulations
  • Able to work on own or as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Manual Handling principles & techniques
  • Understanding of cleaning methods, chemicals and equipment
  • Understanding of Linen Services processes and procedures
Essential Aptitude and abilities
  • Adhere to and can demonstrate SBU Values & Behaviours
  • Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
  • Organisational and communication skills to converse with a range of people
  • Able to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when working with others
