Qualifications

This is a role of purpose its not just about changing engines repairing traction motors or making internal repairs and general maintenance you’ll be contributing to our overall mission of improving rail travel in our Intercity team at our Neville Hill TrainCare Centre.

  • Team Working : Collaborating with a dedicated Engineering Team to maintain and service our traction and rolling stock to the highest standards

Are you
  • Technically Skilled With engineering qualifications to NVQ level 3 in Engineering. An electrical bias would be preferable.
  • Sharp Focused The ability to troubleshoot in a fast‑paced technical environment.
  • Flexible To adapt to the varying demands of train maintenance and operational needs.
  • Proactive With the initiative and motivation and drive to lead by example and uphold the highest safety standards.
  • Motivated The drive to be the engine behind our operations carrying out maintenance and repairs that keep our trains moving forward.
  • Experienced The ability to use diagnostic software to proactively identify and resolve issues and conducting root cause analysis. Alongside mentoring apprentices and contribute to our mission of improving rail travel for all.

Please note this role is safety critical and is subject to Rail Safety & Standards Board (RSSB) regulations. You MUST meet the following criteria for this position or your application will be automatically rejected :

  • Currently live within a 45‑minute car journey from the station you work from.
  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Pass the safety critical medical assessment including drugs and alcohol screening.
  • Not have defective colour vision.
