Job description

Our client is a leading food manufacturing business, supplying into a range of retailers and wholesalers. We're working in partnership to assist them in recruiting a Multi Skilled Engineer (Mech Bias) to join their Engineering team. Role Purpose:

To provide engineering resources in carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and reduce quality issues. To strive towards continuous improvement of machinery, equipment, and ways of working in line with the business strategy.

Mechanical bias candidates with experience in food or FMCG sectors are preferred. All candidates will receive full machine and product training, along with an in-depth onboarding programme. The company will also fund further engineering training or courses as required.

Shift Pattern & Benefits:
  • Early & late rotating shifts
  • Monday to Friday – 6am-2:15pm / 2pm-10:15pm
  • Overtime is available

Core Responsibilities:
  • Fault diagnosis and breakdown repairs of plant machinery & equipment
  • Adherence to statutory checks and GMP standards
  • Involvement in engineering & capital projects
  • Upkeep of stores and engineering documentation
  • Supporting and training relevant employees in maintenance tasks
  • Participating in training and up-skilling programmes as directed by business needs
  • Effective communication during team reviews, engineering meetings, and shift handovers
Required Skills & Experience:

Ideally, candidates will have a mechanical bias but should be multi-skilled. The role suits engineers who are hands-on and capable of machine condition monitoring, asset care management, and project work. Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills are essential, including hydraulics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, and drives. Relevant qualifications include NVQ Level 3, ONC, or HNC in Engineering.
