Job description
Depot Supervisor – Estates, Valuation and Facilities

Are you ready to take the lead in shaping the future of our operational depots? We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and experienced Depot Supervisor to join our Estates, Valuation and Facilities team. This is a pivotal role overseeing a portfolio of strategically important depot sites across the New Forest district – the backbone of our essential services.

Why this role matters

Our depot estate is undergoing major transformation, including:

  • Hardley Depot – a brand-new £8.1m facility entering full operational use.
  • Ringwood Depot – scheduled for a full site overhaul in 2025/26.
  • Marsh Lane Depot – phased improvement planning underway.
  • Legacy sites like Claymeadow, Barton, and Sturt Pond requiring ongoing compliance and maintenance.
What you’ll be doing
  • Leading day-to-day operations across six depot sites, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Acting as the single escalation point for plant and equipment issues.
  • Managing depot cleaning operatives and maintaining high standards.
  • Overseeing statutory inspections, fire safety checks, and EV charging infrastructure.
  • Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to keep services running smoothly.
Ideal candidate
  • A natural communicator who is comfortable making dynamic decisions and solving practical problems on-site.
  • A confident leader with experience managing staff across multiple operational sites.
  • Skilled in health and safety compliance, including LOLER, PUWER, COSHH, and fire safety.
  • Tech‑savvy, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office and mobile reporting tools.
Benefits
  • £40,174 - £43,236 per annum
  • 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays plus an additional 5 days for 5 years local authority continuous service.
  • Local Government Pension Scheme and AVC provision.
  • Hybrid Working.
  • On‑site parking.
  • Wide range of employee discounts at high street retailers, including supermarkets, stores and restaurants.
  • A Cycle to Work scheme which could save you around 40% on cycles and accessories.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (free 24 hour legal, financial and personal advice for employees).
Logistics

While your main base will be our brand-new Hardley Depot, you’ll also travel across a network of strategically important sites – from Ringwood to Totton and coastal locations. Hardley offers modern offices, welfare facilities, and workshops designed for efficiency and safety, while other depots provide varied environments where your leadership will make a real impact. You’ll enjoy a role that blends office‑based tasks with hands‑on operational oversight, giving you the best of both worlds: structured spaces for planning and collaboration, and active engagement in the field.
