Job summary

A leading construction business in York is seeking an MRP Controller to optimize materials management within a successful team. This permanent role involves ensuring timely delivery of materials, supplier coordination, and quality assurance. Overview

Are you looking to join a successful and growing organisation who are committed to creating a great safe place to work where all employees have the opportunity to contribute, grow and develop? We are looking for a MRP Controller to join our team at our Head office in York. Once you are fully trained you can work from home 2 days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure externally sourced materials are available on a just in time system to deliver the production plan, with minimal held inventory.
  • Liaise with suppliers to confirm deliveries and provide forecasts based on sales and operations planning reports.
  • Ensure materials are available on time to meet production and customer requirements.
  • Resolve material notifications related to material quality issues.
  • Introduce new and superseded materials effectively to avoid shortages and reduce slow-moving or obsolete stock.
  • Recommend and coordinate actions to reduce inventory waste through a focus on stock turnover.
  • Drive implementation of policies and process improvements, including software and ERP enhancements, to ensure systems are fit for purpose.
  • Implement stock count policy in York factory.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and flag repeated issues to Procurement and Materials Planning Manager.
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the ability and desire to learn and deliver efficiency improvement and optimisation. You will have strong experience and the ability to develop collaborative relationships both internally and externally, with a mindset to deliver the best for Portakabin.

  • Educated to A-level, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in an entry‑level role in supply chain planning.
  • Basic understanding of supply chain, manufacturing or logistics principles.
  • Strong numerical and analytical capability with attention to detail.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Job Details
  • Annual salary between £32,000k - £38,000k dependent on skills and experience
  • Annual Bonus of up to 5%
  • Location: New Lane, Huntington, York – you must be located within 1 hour of York
  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Annual leave: 25 days per annum plus bank holidays, plus opportunity to purchase an additional 5 days each year
