About Job

As a Motor Vehicle Tutor / Motor Vehicle Lecturer, you will deliver high-quality teaching across Levels 1 to 3 Motor Vehicle programmes, including full-time study programmes and Motor Vehicle apprenticeships. You will play a key role in developing learners' technical knowledge, employability skills, and readiness for employment within the automotive sector.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons in both workshop and classroom environments
  • Teaching IMI-based motor vehicle qualifications and practical automotive skills
  • Supporting apprentices and full-time learners to progress and achieve
  • Adapting learning materials to meet individual learner needs
  • Providing constructive feedback to support academic and technical development
  • Tracking learner attendance, progress, and assessment outcomes
  • Ensuring delivery remains aligned with current automotive industry standards and IMI requirements
  • Contributing to curriculum development and continuous improvement
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, employers, and apprenticeship partners
  • Promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity, health & safety, and learner wellbeing

This is a hands-on teaching role where you will directly influence learner confidence, competence, and career outcomes.

Ideal Candidate

You will be well-suited to this Motor Vehicle Tutor / Motor Vehicle Lecturer role if you have:

  • Strong hands‑on experience within the motor vehicle industry (workshop, garage, diagnostics, automotive engineering)
  • A relevant qualification such as Level 3 Motor Vehicle, IMI qualifications, or equivalent industry experience
  • A recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one with full support
  • Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • The ability to plan and deliver inclusive, effective teaching sessions
  • Up-to-date knowledge of modern motor vehicle systems and diagnostic practices
  • Strong communication, organisation, and learner engagement skills
  • Confidence using digital tools and online learning platforms
  • A genuine passion for supporting learners, apprenticeships, and employability
