Qualifications

  • Qualified to, or willing to work towards, Level 2 English and Maths.

Motor Vehicle Course Leader (Tutor)

Part time (flexible options available) up to 22.5 hours per week – £30,624 – £36,590 per annum (full time salary, pro‑rated for part time). Location: Burton upon Trent, Town Centre Campus.

About the role

Burton and South Derbyshire College are looking for a Motor Vehicle Course Leader to join our successful Motor Vehicle Team. You will plan, deliver and assess learners on full‑time study programmes. Delivery can be tailored to match the successful applicant’s skill‑set, as the department currently offers programmes in Level 1, 2 & 3. You will provide an engaging learning environment, developing personal and professional skills, and helping create the workforce of the future. You will support the teaching team, liaising closely with the Curriculum Team Leader, Course Leaders and Technician.

Core responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver and assess learner instruction across Level 1, 2 & 3 motor vehicle programmes.
  • Develop engaging learning environments that foster personal and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with the Curriculum Team Leader, Course Leaders, and Technician to ensure seamless programme delivery.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the learner’s needs and skill level.
Qualifications and experience
  • Working knowledge and industry experience of motor vehicle systems and technical maintenance up to Level 3.
  • Experience in a teaching role is desirable, but not mandatory – previous industry experience with a progressive step into teaching is welcomed.
  • Qualified to, or willing to work towards, Level 2 English and Maths – evidence of qualifications required.
Hours & contract

Flexible working hours to be discussed at interview, with an agreement made on employment. There is potential to increase contract hours before September 2026 due to continued growth in the area.
