A major building society in the UK is seeking a Mortgage Underwriter to assess applications and ensure customer interests are prioritized. The role offers a hybrid working model and a variety of benefits, including an annual bonus and training commitment. Ideal candidates will have experience in underwriting or know the mortgage journey, possess excellent communication skills, and be comfortable making difficult decisions.
Hours:35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am until 5pm. Full time Head Office based training period - hybrid working can be considered after this. You will be joining the Home Lending team of around 120 people, broken down into 8 teams made up of Underwriters and Mortgage Administrators. We work closely with several teams across the Homes Function including the Homes Direct, Mortgage Advisers and Business Development Managers. You’ll be assessing applications on whether we lend, ensuring this is in the best interest of the customer and the Society, and will be expected to keep our brokers and advisors up to date with the progress of the applications. The applications will be varied and interesting and we’ll make sure you’re fully trained to deal with anything that comes your way.
