We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Modern Matron to join our Inpatient Services at Airedale Centre for Mental Health.

Key Responsibilities:

The matrons' fundamental role is to improve the patient experience. The main objectives of the role are:

  • Providing leadership and supervision to clinical and direct care staff within their unit, to ensure high standards of care
  • Ensuring that administrative and support services for their unit support the delivery of high standards of care
  • Providing a visible, accessible and authoritative presence in wards for patients and their families
  • To provide focus on key performance indicators (KPI's), finances and safety of the unit

The underpinning principle is to have a professional leader who is accountable for co-coordinating safe, high-quality care to improve patients' experience.

Main duties of the job

  • Leading by example
  • Making sure patients get quality care
  • Ensuring staffing is appropriate to patient needs
  • Empowering nurses to take on a wider range of clinical tasks
  • Improving hospital cleanliness
  • Ensuring patients nutritional needs are met

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Mental Health Nurse Qualification
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Post Graduate level education in specialist area or equivalent experience
  • Educated to Masters Level or working towards

Experience

  • Mental health care/treatment relevant to service (Significant experience)
  • Clinical leadership
  • Operational management of a clinical team
