The Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) is an inclusive, dedicated organisation working to provide outstanding care to our entitled personnel. This part‑time role – 23 hours per week – will be based at the Dental Centre, HMS Drake, Plymouth.

Schedule:

  • Tues & Wed 07:45‑16:30 (60 min lunch)
  • Thu 07:45‑16:15 (60 min lunch)

Main duties

The purpose of the post is to maximise the deployability of the Population at Risk for whom you are responsible. The role will include clinical and non‑clinical activities aimed at improving and maintaining dental health and operational fitness of personnel.

  • Inspect personnel at intervals in accordance with NICE guidelines and provide follow‑up treatment.
  • Provide occupational oral health assessment, using NATO Dental Fitness categorisation and input into the Joint Medical Employment Standard.
  • Record contemporaneous notes in integrated electronic healthcare records for all episodes of care.
  • Maintain high standards of surgery management, documentation, consumables, security of sensitive data and equipment.
  • Refer personnel to enhanced practitioners, specialists or consultants as appropriate.
Qualifications and Registration

Registration as a Dentist with the General Dental Council (GDC) is mandatory. Provide your membership registration number in the application.
