The Role

As a Mobile Repair Technician, you’ll help support the London Fire Brigade by ensuring their fleet of over 460 vehicles and specialist equipment is always ready to respond. You’ll play a key role in public safety across Greater London.

Day-to-day you’ll be:
  • Diagnosing faults and testing vehicles using specialist equipment
  • Maintaining your company vehicle for roadworthiness and servicing
  • Accurately completing job documentation and parts requisitions
  • Working across operational and training sites, performing manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and tool use
  • Identifying and reporting recharge cost instances with evidence

This role involves manual work and requires passing a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination.

The role is based onsite at Croydon and offers a potential remuneration of up to £53,785.80, including a £41,350.50 base salary and allowances for shift work (£5,375.57), MRT allowance (£3,014.03) and on-call allowance (£4,045.70). The set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 40 hours per week. Regular travel across internal and customer sites is expected.

Essential experience of the Mobile Repair Technician:
  • Proven experience as a qualified motor vehicle technician
  • Full UK driving licence (Category B essential; Category C desirable)
  • Strong diagnostic skills and a methodical fault resolution
  • High attention to quality and safety
  • Understanding of workshop health and safety practices
Qualifications for the Mobile Repair Technician:
  • City & Guilds Levels 1 and 2 in Motor Vehicle Studies, or
  • NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
