Job summary

A power generation consultancy is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service and maintain diesel generator sets across the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing repairs, fault-finding, and building strong customer relationships. A resilient background in mechanical or electrical engineering along with a full UK driving licence is essential. The role offers a competitive salary of £17.00 – £20.00 per hour, a company van, and a variety of benefits including holiday and overtime rates.

Qualifications

• Experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing diesel generator sets.
• Ability to perform fault-finding on diesel engines and associated equipment.
• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair and fault-find diesel generator sets on customer sites.
• Assist with installations and support commissioning of equipment.
• Complete accurate job reports and parts usage using a PDA or laptop.

Skills

Experience with diesel engines

Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems

Strong customer focus

Confident working independently

Flexible towards overtime

Education

NVQ Level 2+ in plant, mechanical or electrical engineering

Tools

Control panels

PLCs or similar controllers
