Military Claims Fee Earner/Solicitor
Location:Manchester (Hybrid role)

Certain Advantage are looking for a Military Claims Fee Earner/Solicitor. The role will involvemanaging a caseload of military claims against the Ministry of Defence, handling both pre-litigated and litigated matters with confidence, expertise, and in line with the Company’s outstanding client care standards. In addition, you will also take responsibility for several industrial disease cases as required.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply a thorough understanding of the technical issues involved in litigated cases, ensuring accurate and effective case handling.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and their practical application.
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of Military Claims, Noise-Induced Hearing Loss, and both Short-Tail and Long-Tail Industrial Disease matters, including relevant case law.
  • Take individual responsibility for managing cases while working collaboratively within the wider team.
  • Show strong commercial awareness with a proactive and solutions-focused approach to all work.
  • Exercise sound judgment and decision-making skills when handling complex and high-value claims.
  • Consistently meet monthly and annual financial targets, contributing to the overall profitability and performance of the team.
  • Deliver excellent client service, ensuring clear communication, responsiveness, and a high standard of client care.
  • Effectively assess and manage risk, both within individual caseloads and across the wider team.
  • Work in full compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and professional conduct requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders, fostering trust and collaboration.
£28,000 to £45,000 DOE
The individual
We are looking for someone who has
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience handling complex and high-value claims.
  • Proven experience in managing cases against the Ministry of Defence, including fast-track and multi-track litigated matters.
  • Strong background in both Short-Tail and Long-Tail industrial disease claims, alongside wider industrial disease litigation.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical application of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR).
  • Skilled in drafting court documents with precision and clarity.
  • Confident advocacy skills with the ability to present cases effectively.
  • Strong investigative and fact-finding abilities to build robust cases.
  • Solid understanding of cost budgeting and cost management conference requirements.
  • Assertive and determined with a proactive, solution-focused approach.
  • Excellent client service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain strong relationships.
  • Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities under pressure.
  • Clear and confident oral communication skills, with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable with case management systems.
  • Experience with PROCLAIM (or a similar case management system) is highly desirable.
  • A strong team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
