Asa Band 6 Core Community Midwife, you will:

JOBPURPOSE/SUMMARY
Thepost holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development,implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, and may be required toteach other midwives and non-midwifery staff. They take responsibility as theprime care provider for a group of women.
Thepost holder is a prime care provider who is required to practice clinicalskills developed through experience but at a more advanced level thanrequired for those who have just qualified as midwives.
Thepost holder is designated to take charge of a ward in the absence of theperson who has continuing responsibility.
Thematernity unit has approximately 10,000 births a year. LTHT is a tertiaryreferral centre for both obstetrics and neonatology. Other specialities within the hospital thatimpact on maternity unit are feto-maternal medicine, adult and neonatalcardiology, neonatal surgery and a reproductive medicine unit.
Thepost holder will work within the maternity unit or community, caring forwomen and their babies before, during and after pregnancy depending on thearea.
Theywill participate in internal rotation throughout the maternity units andcovers both day and night shifts.
Themidwife maintains personal contact with women and meets their needs on anindividual basis by listening, assessing, planning, implementing andevaluating care. Is aware of theanxieties of women and their families and the support they may need.
Themidwife ensures that the appropriate practitioner is informed promptly of acomplication or change in the mother's or baby's condition.
Themidwife ensures effective communication with health care professionals andother personnel to ensure continued care to the patient and assists in thesmooth running of the ward or area.
Reportson the changes occurring in treatment and client needs during the shift andis prepared to work in areas of the midwifery service other than where basedin order to meet the requirements of the service.
Thejobholder must comply with the wearing of PPE as appropriate to the clinicalsituation - this may involve wearing face masks for a considerable length oftime.
