About the role

We have a permanent Meter Technician role within our Meter Field Services team in Essex. This is a field-based role, traveling across our Essex operational area to deliver unrivalled customer service across both our traditional and Smart Meter portfolio.

This role requiresan individual who is passionate about providing the best possible levels of customer service.

Once in role you will be delivering both traditional and smart metering services which include :

  • Completing an on-site meter survey for properties selected for a smart meter.
  • Installing new smart water meters at our customers properties.
  • Completing in home water efficiency audits, providing customer advice on water usage and installing water saving devices.
  • Attending appointments and site visits to offer advice and support to customers on suspected leakage and measured supply queries.
  • Identifying and exchanging defective water meters.
  • Fixing minor leaking taps, showers and leaky loos.
  • Locating lost & missing meters.
  • Gaining check readings from our meters.

The role requires you to work 37 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7 days, Monday to Saturday between the hours of 08 : 00 to 19 : 00.

Please Note - This role has been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.

Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.

Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked

About you

We’re looking for someone with problem solving skills and a practical attitude, along with experience of working in a customer facing environment. Delivering consistently high levels of service.

You will have a positive and flexible approach to ensure deadlines are met within a busy day and you will ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner for yourself, colleagues and customers, in line with our Health and Safety policies.

You will be comfortable working alone for most of your day with minimal supervision and you will be happy working outside in all conditions. You will be able to meet the physical demands of this role and will have proven experience of using your initiative with a high level of attention to detail, as you will be recording job completion details using an electronic device.

You’ll have a full manual UK driving licence and be willing to undertake a DBS check as an entry to premises card is required for this role.
