M&A Associate – Origination

Location : England / London

Salary : Up to £75,000 base + bonus

Sector : Technology

We are working with a fast-growing, private equity-backed technology group, seeking an M&A Associate to lead the company’s origination strategy. This is a front‑end, origination‑focused role, ideal for someone gregarious, commercially curious, and hungry to create proprietary deal flow for the business.

The role sits at the heart of the M&A engine, working closely with senior directors, building early‑stage founder relationships, and driving proprietary deal sourcing ahead of bankers. Execution exposure is available as a bonus, but origination remains the primary focus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively sourcing acquisition targets within the sector
  • Conducting high-volume, high-quality outreach while building early‑stage relationships with founders well before sell decisions
  • Attending industry conferences, networking events, and sector meetups
  • Tracking and managing the deal pipeline through CRM and internal tools
  • Feeding market intelligence back to senior M&A and leadership teams
  • Supporting live deals through commercial analysis and high-level modelling
  • Coordinating diligence workstreams across financial, legal, and operational areas
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Experience in M&A origination, corporate development, or deal sourcing teams
  • Exposure to technology or tech-enabled services sectors
  • Naturally outgoing, confident, and commercially minded
  • Comfortable persisting with follow-ups and maintaining founder engagement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in light modelling, commercial analysis, and pipeline management
