Part Time 25 hours per week
We provide residential services for young people aged 16‑30 years old. The young people we care for often require a high level of support to assist with difficulties they may have from self‑harm, behaviour, and emotional problems. Our aim is to support them using a therapeutic approach to help them achieve their individual goals, preparing for transition to adult life.
Your role will involve working with our young people to promote independence through support with education, household tasks and general life skills. You will also update online care records and complete medication administration. Additionally, you will be responsible for the general upkeep and tidiness of the home, ensuring the young people live in a homely environment.
At our home in Huddersfield you will work with young people who have a variety of mental health diagnoses including personality disorder, difficult relationships with food, and self‑harm strategies. You will need to be patient and resilient, supporting them to improve their relationship with food and managing incidents of self‑harm. Many of our young people are preparing to move on positively from Woodside into the community, so you will support this transition by helping them self‑administer medication, return to education, and navigate public transport and appointments independently. The service is a 5‑bed property near a wooded area of Huddersfield, providing scenic local walks and ample grounds for outdoor activities.
Previous care experience is not essential; full training will be provided. You will receive ongoing support and mentoring from our friendly residential and clinical team.
The job is highly rewarding and offers a great start to developing a career working with young people or enhancing your previous experience of mental health, with excellent career development opportunities.
