Mental Health Mentor - Specialist School

Location: Windsor
Contract: 1‑year
Pay: £85‑£100 per day
Start: ASAP

Overview

A specialist SEN school in Windsor is recruiting a Mental Health Mentor to support children and young adults who have been excluded from mainstream education or are in a transition period. Many pupils have experienced trauma, SEN, behavioural disorders, and other mental‑health issues. The Mentor will deliver one‑to‑one support, mentoring, and teaching to help these students access education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor, teach and support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Challenging Behaviour.
  • Work closely with fully trained therapists, psychologists and other professionals within the education/mental‑health field.
  • Develop and implement behaviour management strategies for pupils with learning disabilities such as autism.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent, positive support across the school.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Graduate with a degree graded 2:2 or above or experienced teaching assistant.
  • Desirable background in Psychology, Criminology, or related fields.
  • Relevant experience in youth work, support work, mental health work, or SEN (sport or otherwise).
  • Excellent behaviour‑management skills and, preferably, restraint training.
  • Strong confidence, dedication, enthusiasm and passion for children’s education.
