Job description
Overview

Dorset All Age Eating Disorders Service (DAEDS) - 10-bed inpatient unit

We are looking to recruit compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMHN's) to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering treatment and care to adults with eating disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to holistic treatment and care of patients, assisting their recovery and maintaining clear, accurate written records.
  • Support the Service and Ward Manager to deliver the best available evidence-based treatment, including nasogastric tube feeding.
  • Work predominantly on the inpatient unit but may be required to support across the day service; at times, you will be the nurse in charge of the shift.
  • Remain calm under pressure, prioritise, delegate and escalate as required, in line with policy.
  • Contribute to health, safety, and security of individuals and their environment and evaluate the risk of harm, abuse and failure to protect.
  • Assist with inductions of staff and students; contribute to mentorship/preceptor/NVQ assessors training.
  • Provide clinical supervision to band 3 and 4 staff within the team.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Be NMC registered or soon to qualify.
  • Experience of caring for people with eating disorders in a mental health setting is desirable; empathy towards those who have an eating disorder is essential.
  • Be aware of the special requirements of working with this client group in areas of understanding, boundaries, and consistency.
  • To enable the role, employment requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check; the Trust will cover the cost. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
  • This post currently cannot accept applications from candidates who require sponsorship to work in the UK.
Additional Information

The inpatient unit is open 24/7, 365 days a year, with a shift system to support treatment and care around the clock. The Trust is committed to development via training opportunities, an annual appraisal, and clinical supervision. Preceptorship will be offered for those newly qualified.
