Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Clinical Lead to join our Mental Health team at HMP Winchester, a category B Prison located in Winchester.

Position Details

Hours: 37.5 hours a week working 8-4pm. No weekends.

Salary: annual up to £57,603 depending on experience.

Legal and Security Checks

Candidates must have a legal right to work in the UK. Offer is subject to vetting and security checks.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and management to Registered nurses and allied health professionals.
  • Establish inter-agency working where necessary to ensure good communication increases quality of care for patients.
  • Ensuring that own clinical practice is consistent with autonomous practice within the role.
  • Based on the Wellbeing Approach and Practice Plus mental Health policy, provide nursing triage and screening and assessment.
  • Actively participate with the development of local operating procedures to ensure pathways are clear for clinicians.
  • Ensuring all complaints / concerns relating to Mental Health are dealt with in a timely fashion.
  • Nurse lead treatment or care within mental health.
  • Medicines management/advice including supporting medicine administration.
  • Set standards for care by implementing protocols and establishing health education activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assessment, planning and treatment of patients.
Qualifications
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (currently registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council)
  • BSc or equivalent qualification
  • Experience of providing supervision
  • Teaching / Mentoring experience
  • Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development activity to maintain up-to-date knowledge and ongoing competence in all aspects of the role
