Job description

Job Description

We're looking for a MEICA Project Manager to join our Natural Resources, Nuclear and Networks team working on the Environment Agency collaborative delivery framework based in Bridgwater, Somerset.

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset - this role requires an active presence on site.

Hours: 45 hours per week – we can offer some flexibility on start and finish times if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

What will you be responsible for?

As a MEICA Project Manager, you'll be working within the Natural Resources, Nuclear and Networks team, supporting them by leading the delivery of the Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation systems aspects of the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier, a landmark infrastructure project in Somerset and one of England's biggest flood defence schemes. This is a vital leadership role requiring expertise in the review of designs, delivery, and commissioning of infrastructure for complex multidisciplinary projects.

Your day-to-day will include:

  1. Leading and managing a multi-disciplinary delivery team of up to 10 personnel on-site, including commercial, programme controls, engineering, and others to identify solutions to client requirements.
  2. Working closely with the Senior Project Manager and Senior Management Team to guide and develop specialist teams, aligning them with project objectives for internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining the P6 programme with the Planner throughout the project lifecycle at a level of detail suitable for operational delivery teams. Monitoring project progress, identifying potential delays, and implementing corrective actions.
  3. Taking ownership of the MEICA elements of the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Scheme, from design development through to final commissioning and handover in alignment with project timelines. Managing and overseeing interface management between MEICA systems (including Structural Steel Structures, cladding) and civil works, ensuring integration with the wider civil and structural works packages.
  4. Coordinating MEICA subcontractors, consultants, and in-house resources to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality delivery. Coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure specifications and project commitments are met.
  5. Ensuring all MEICA installations comply with relevant standards (e.g., BS7671, IEC 61508, WIMES, EA standards) through the implementation of quality processes. Ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, Kier SHE policies, and industry best practices.

What are we looking for?

This role of MEICA Project Manager is great for you if:

  • You have proven experience delivering MEICA packages on major infrastructure, flood defence, or water sector projects.
  • You possess relevant qualifications in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering disciplines.
  • You hold CSCS, SMSTS, or equivalent health and safety certifications.
  • Understanding and direct experience with:
  • MEICA integration in civil engineering projects
  • Industry regulations, standards, and H&S legislation (e.g., BS7671, IEC 61508, CDM, ATEX/CompEx/DSEAR).
  • Automation, SCADA, PLC, telemetry, and HV/LV electrical systems in coastal or flood defence settings.

We welcome transferable skills! Even if you don't tick every box, please apply, and we can discuss your potential fit.
