St John's Medical Centre is looking for a highly motivated and organised part-time Medical Secretary. This vacancy is for 25 hours a week which will include a full day on a Tuesday and a Thursday with the remaining hours to be discussed during the interview.
The role provides a comprehensive secretarial service for all cliniciansworking in the practice, ensuring referrals/ letters are processed in anefficient time frame.
The role will require excellent verbal and written communication skillsin addition to a clear understanding of patient confidentiality. You will berequired to possess a good working knowledge of IT systems.
The role provides a link between the patient, their GP and otherhealthcare professionals, excellent organisation skills and attention to detailare required for this role.
Typing letters, reports and associateddocumentation as required.
Ensure referrals, letters and medical reportsare typed up using the Clinicians preferred method (dictation, tasks, email)
Liaise with external agencies (incl: hospitals/community services/ Health Visitors) to ensure referrals are processed in a timelymanner
Ensuring patient/ clinician enquiries are dealtwith professionally and effectively to ensure highest levels of patient care atall times.
Process referrals using the electronic referralSystem
Ensuring requests for information are processedin a timely manner (incl Insurance Letters, SARS, /DVLA forms, Police lettersand Firearm Certificates)
Taking of meeting minutes and ensuring they arecirculated to all participants of meetings (incl staff, Safeguarding and PPG meetings)
Assisting with updating telephone, chaperonelists and other Practice documentation as required.
Assistwith the running of the community surgical scheme which includes: bookingappointments for patients, processing referrals for other practices and producingclinic folders.
Processing incoming letters and sending them as workflows to the relevant clinicians.
Attending and preparing safeguarding meetings.
We are a GP practice with a patient population of approximately 13,500. We have a supportive team culture, good work life balance, attractive location in the centre of town with free car parking for staff.
This role is working within a small admin team who are extremely friendly and helpful offering good administrative support.
Main duties of the job
Typing letters, reports and associated documentation as required.
Ensure referrals, letters and medical reports are typed up using the Clinicians preferred method (dictation, tasks, email)
