Mechatronics Maintenance Engineer

Location: Sheffield

Industry: Heavy Engineering

Shift Pattern: Two-shift rotation

Salary: Up to £19.50 per hour + shift allowance

A well-known and highly respected heavy engineering company based in Sheffield is looking to recruit a Mechatronics Maintenance Engineer to join their skilled maintenance team. This role is ideal for a Mechatronics Maintenance Engineer with a strong background in machine building, looking to work in a technically demanding environment with long-term stability and excellent company benefits.

The Role of the Mechatronics Maintenance Engineer
  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding, maintenance, and repair on heavy industrial machinery
  • Planned and reactive maintenance across site equipment
  • Working on machines built in-house, including commissioning, modifications, and upgrades
  • Fault finding on PLCs, motors, drives, sensors, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Supporting breakdown response to minimise downtime
  • Working closely with engineering, build, and production teams
  • Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with regulations
The Ideal Mechatronics Maintenance Engineer
  • Apprentice-trained or equivalent in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience in machine building – essential
  • Strong multi-skilled maintenance background within an industrial or heavy engineering environment
  • Confident with both electrical and mechanical fault finding
  • PLC fault-finding experience advantageous
  • Willingness to work a rotating days and nights shift pattern
