Overview

We are expanding our team and are currently recruiting for 1 Mechanical Technician for our Waste Treatment Plant in Newport, Isle of Wight. Working in a team, as a Mechanical Technician you will support the Operational Team with maintaining services, plant and apparatus in all areas of the plant.

Ideal candidates

Ideal candidates with have significant experience working within one of the following areas:

  • Steam turbines
  • Hydraulic system overhaul/maintenance
  • Basic Engineering competencies
  • The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with motors, gearboxes, and machinery

You will be working 12-hour shifts either days or nights on a rotating pattern:

  • 6am – 6pm
  • 6pm – 6am
Role Responsibilities
  • Help to maintain standards as set out in the KPI’s
  • Communicate problems and concerns promptly ensuring quick resolution
  • Ensure the health, safety and security of staff, premises and equipment by encouraging and monitoring best practices always
  • Comply with all Health and Safety Legislation
  • Always undertake role in a professional and safe manner
  • Perform Planned Preventitive Maintenance checks, inspections and reports
  • Good understanding of proactive maintenance strategy and condition monitoring.
  • Experience of carrying out mechanical maintenance.
  • Pro-actively support a safety culture in which teams and individuals are responsible and accountable for their actions and perform at their best, improve performance and realise their full potential
  • Read and work from OEM manuals and technical drawings
Qualifications & Skills
  • Maintenance experience (essential
  • Mechanical engineering HNC or apprenticeship (essential)
  • Good communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Experience working within a Permit to work system (desirable)
  • Experience in working with a Computerised Maintenance Management or willing to undertake training at a level applicable to role.
