Overview

We are currently recruiting for Project Managers on behalf of a bespoke electrical and mechanical engineering company that manages the complete mechanical engineering process, including design, manufacture and commissioning. They mainly work within Water Utilities. Operating over 35 years, they are a family‑owned organisation that has gained a reputable name within the industry for high‑quality work and excellent customer service. Their client base includes some of the biggest names in the engineering sector. Mainly working within the Waste Water and Clean Water industries, they provide a range of services including surveying through to design, fabrication, installation and implementation.

The Project Manager will demonstrate good commercial aptitude and play a pivotal role in delivering specialist projects (mainly within the UK Water Industry) with values ranging from c£1 000 to c£500 000. The role requires a committed and flexible ‘can‑do’ attitude to undertake a multi‑functional project management role and successfully deliver a variety of Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation/Controls/SCADA/Telemetry schemes.

You will be responsible for the complete project and programme management of multiple MEICA projects across our client portfolio, working with other members of the project management group as well as senior staff from the Operational team to assist with the commercial aspects of each project. You will be supported with the appropriate resources to conclude the works across the various multi‑disciplined departments, which may or may not include sub‑contracted labour as required. This is a permanent position based out of Reading, working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. The salary is £60k – £65k per annum, depending on experience. The successful candidate would need their own vehicle and will be paid 33p per mile for any mileage. You will also receive 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, pension, training & development, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Develop project plans, including timelines, resources and budgets, and communicate these plans to stakeholders.
  • Plan and purchase materials/sub‑contractors as required.
  • Plan resource availability and skills requirements by liaising with internal staff to secure multi‑disciplined internal labour.
  • Regularly liaise with client representatives.
  • Adjust project priorities and milestones based upon changing customer needs.
  • Provide regular feedback on operational issues / concerns to stakeholders and senior managers.
  • Monitor project budgets and assist with data for commercial invoices.
  • Plan and schedule resources to meet project goals.
  • Adhere to Companies Policies, Procedures & Legal Practices.
  • Adhere to the Companies Health & Safety Policies & Procedures.
  • Adhere to the Companies Quality Management system.
Skills & Attributes
  • Electrical or Mechanical experience and qualifications.
