Job description

NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high–hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG's own offices and purpose–built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white–collar and blue–collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles.

The Role

To contribute to the NSG Site Construction Operations function by ensuring the successful delivery of projects in full alignment with established safety, quality, environmental, and security standards, as well as contractual requirements.

This role is fully site based and forms an integral part of a multidisciplinary construction team. Acting as a vital link between off site engineering and on site execution, you will bring proven experience and appropriate qualifications within your discipline.

Success in this position requires a practical, solutions focused mindset, combined with a methodical and organised approach. You should be confident in your technical knowledge and capable of applying it effectively in a dynamic nuclear site environment.

This role requires an individual who is proactive and makes accountable decision to support the construction operations team.

Key Objectives Project Delivery
  • Undertake studies and develop solutions to deliver the projects end point requirements.
  • Control Plans
  • Method Statements
  • LTQR documentation
  • Liaise with sub–contractors and suppliers to identify services, plant and equipment required in support of the project.
  • Liaise with procurement to ensure that all services, plant and equipment are procured in accordance with the company procedures.
  • Management and assist with construction documentation.
  • Raise and close out TQ's in collaboration with Engineers, Designers and Project Managers
  • Liaise with supervisors to support the co ordination and management of operatives and technicians.
  • Manage operatives and technicians as required under the guidance of the Project Manager, Construction Manager & Site manger.
  • Ensure and promote effective communication and working between disciplines to support the overall delivery of the project objectives.
  • Support the Construction / Site Manager in the following activities:
  • Management of all activities in accordance with the NSG QSHEW Management System and best practice.
  • Provision of information to maintain the project programme.
  • Provision of information on the costs to date and future costs.
  • Identification and communication of project risks and opportunities.
  • Stakeholder liaison and management.
  • Sub–contract and supplier management and expediting.
Technical Competency
  • Ensure personal, professional, technical and engineering competency through continuing professional development
  • Understand the technical aspects of a project and develop design and engineering solutions with our in house specialists or supply chain support as necessary.
  • Consolidation and collation of design and engineering documentation for internal approvals and presentation to the client as necessary.
  • Support mechanical system installations including HVAC, pipework, and plant equipment in accordance with project specifications and client requirements.
  • Assist in mechanical isolation procedures and ensure compliance with relevant energy isolation requirements for pressure systems and rotating equipment & PUWER regulations.
  • Support mechanical testing and commissioning activities comply with relevant British Standards and project specific requirements.
  • Support mechanical quality documentation including pressure test certificates, weld records, and equipment commissioning records.
  • Support LOLER compliance for lifting operations and ensure appropriate examination records are maintained.
  • Coordinate with Appointed Persons & Facility for mechanical systems were projects require isolation.

Experience & Knowledge
  • Understanding of the Project lifecycle and how projects are delivered within NSG – desirable
  • Basic understanding of the UK Nuclear Industry – essential
  • Understanding of the radiological controls used within the type of projects delivered by NSG – desirable
  • Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information – essentialFamiliar with QSHEW operating procedures and requirements etc – essential
  • Knowledge of HVAC, pipework, and mechanical plant systems – essential
  • Understanding of PSSR and pressure system requirements – desirable
  • Experience in mechanical design and using mechanical design software such as auto cad, BIM etc – desirable

Package

Overtime – 37.5–60hours per week – Time and half

Overtime – 60+ hours per week or Sundays – Double time

Life Assurance 3x Salary

Pension – Company contributes 5% Individual contributes 4%
