Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Location: West Yorkshire

Salary: £35,000 per annum

Sector: Pharmaceutical Manufacturing

Employment Type: Permanent, Days-based role with participation in an on-call rota

On-call requirement: one week in every six, including out-of-hours breakdown response

My client, an established pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join its on-site engineering team in West Yorkshire. This is a hands-on role within a highly regulated, safety-critical environment, supporting the reliable operation of production equipment and site utilities.

You’ll play a key role in maintaining compliance with GMP, COMAH and ATEX requirements while ensuring minimal downtime and safe operations across the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical breakdowns efficiently
  • Manage work orders and maintenance records using a CMMS (SAP or similar)
  • Maintain and update SOPs, engineering drawings, manuals and asset documentation
  • Work under permit-to-work systems including hot works, confined space and lifting operations
  • Operate, maintain and test site utilities including steam boilers, purified water systems, cooling towers, fire pumps and deluge systems
  • Support cleanroom maintenance, calibration and performance checks
  • Assist with equipment qualification and small engineering improvement projects
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with GMP and site safety standards, with full documentation
Skills & Experience
  • Qualified Mechanical Engineer (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with proven fault-finding capability
  • CompEx Ex11 certified, confined space trained, and experienced in ATEX environments
  • IPAF & FLT licensed with prior COMAH site experience
