Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

We are currently recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join the team of a gasification plant. The successful Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will bring strong mechanical expertise, sound electrical understanding, and proven experience working within a heavy industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities of Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
  • Carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance across a range of plant equipment, ensuring ongoing reliability and safe operation.
  • Deliver routine inspections, condition monitoring, and planned preventative maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose faults, respond promptly to breakdowns, and complete high-quality repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Support plant optimisation through involvement in upgrades, improvement initiatives, and small-scale engineering projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and contribute to effective planning, scheduling, and outage coordination.
Candidate Requirements
  • A recognised Level 3 engineering qualification or time-served apprenticeship, with strong mechanical competency and multi-skilled experience in a heavy process environment.
  • Proven background in maintenance within sectors such as power generation, industrial processing, chemicals, or waste treatment.
  • Familiarity with CMMS tools and the ability to record work accurately and consistently.
  • A strong safety mindset with an understanding of industry compliance requirements; additional HSE certifications are beneficial.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, including participation in a rotating call‑out system.
