Overview

Oldbury based manufacturer seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their team. With a competitive salary package, excellent benefits, and a commitment to professional development, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the manufacturing industry. The company is renowned for its expertise in steel processing and supplying quality components to the construction and off-highway industries. This role will suit a mechanically biased engineer looking to avoid shifts, working days with a half day Friday.

Hours: Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.00pm; Friday finish at lunch time (37.5 hours per week).

What You Will Do
  • Perform reactive maintenance on a variety of mechanical machinery across the site to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Support day-to-day manufacturing processes efficiently while collaborating within a team structure.
  • Record and monitor engineering and production-based issues to maintain operational excellence.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems, suggest improvements, and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Communicate progress and updates on maintenance tasks with Production Managers and Team Leaders.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance and investigate faults with plant and equipment, completing necessary repairs and documenting them in the maintenance recording system.
What You Will Bring
  • Time-served Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Minimum City and Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, demonstrating a solid technical foundation.
  • Proficiency in fitting skills, welding, fabrication, and hydraulic and pneumatic fault finding.
  • Experience in planned maintenance and continuous improvement, with a focus on lean manufacturing.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving, strong organisational skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Current or recent experience as maintenance engineer, maintenance technician, multi-skilled engineer, multi-skilled maintenance engineer, mechanical maintenance engineer, technician, mechanical fitter or shift engineer.
