A leading technical recruitment agency is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to deliver maintenance strategies at a major waste management facility in Southwark. The role involves scheduled maintenance, managing downtime, and ensuring the efficiency of operations. Candidates must possess an NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering and experience in maintenance within production environments. Position: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Southwark, London
Salary: £40k (plus £3k per year for night shift allowance) plus benefits
Holiday: 25 days plus paid sick leave

Hours: 40 hours per week (plus paid overtime when required).
Shift Pattern: Option 1 – Monday to Friday, rotating shifts: 6am‑2pm, 2pm‑10pm; overtime may be required at weekends. Option 2 – Monday to Friday, permanent night shift: 10pm‑6am; overtime may be required at weekends.

Site: Integrated Waste Management Facility in Southwark – Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) facility, public Reuse and Recycling Centre, Education and Visitor Centre.
Materials Recovery Facility (MRF): One of the most advanced recycling facilities in Europe, processing all materials collected for recycling from homes across the borough before sending them off to manufacturers.
Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT): Processes waste not suitable for recycling with a combination of mechanical segregation (separating recyclable materials such as metals or glass) and biological moisture removal and composting‑like processing to create fuel for energy recovery.
The Maintenance Engineer will deliver the plant’s maintenance strategy through preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.
