4 on 4 off – 2 days 06:30am – 18:30pm and 2 nights 18:30pm – 06:30am and then 4 days of

Shift pattern is 4 on 4 off – 2 days 06:30am – 18:30pm and 2 nights 18:30pm – 06:30am and then 4 days off – over an 8 day rota.

Job Purpose

Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to carry out mechanical maintenance activities within a 24-hour fused minerals processing environment. The role involves ensuring plant reliability, supporting safe operations, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the site.

Key Responsibilities

Work under the direction of the Engineering Supervisor to complete assigned maintenance tasks promptly and effectively.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance data, including input and output logs.

Evaluate equipment performance and make recommendations for improvements.

Adhere to all safety procedures, permits, and company policies.

Immediately report unsafe activities or conditions to the Line Supervisor.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working area at all times.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience working within a maintenance environment, ideally in heavy industry or manufacturing.

Familiarity with health & safety systems, including lock out / tag out procedures.

Willingness to assist with tasks outside core mechanical responsibilities when required.

Strong team-working capabilities as well as the ability to work independently.

Competent in the safe operation of mechanical equipment.

Commitment to following safe working practices to protect self and colleagues.

Physically fit and able to meet the demands of the role.

Flexibility to work rotating shift patterns.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of pipefitting, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, and control systems.

Experience with equipment installation.

Experience operating forklift trucks, mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs) or similar equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance.

Electrical qualifications or experience (advantageous).

Counterbalance forklift truck licence (desirable).

Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
