Job summary

A leading engineering company in Cramlington is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join their team. The role involves assembling metal parts, performing mechanical maintenance, and installing a variety of equipment. Successful candidates must have the ability to interpret engineering drawings, work with hydraulics, and hold an engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience. This permanent position offers 36 contracted hours per week, with overtime available at enhanced rates.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble parts made from metal according to engineering specifications.

  • Raise non-conformance issues as necessary.
  • Install, test and repair hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors and valves.

Jackson Hogg are delighted to be supporting our longstanding client with the appointment of a Mechanical Fitter on a permanent basis to join them at their facility in Cramlington.

In this role you will be responsible for assembling parts made from metal, mechanical maintenance, installation, welding and fabrication of a broad range of equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Mechanical fitting using the direction of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Work on Precision Parts, Sub-Assemblies and Final Assemblies.
  • Carry out Final Test and Commissioning on Part Completed or Completed Systems.
  • The Mechanical Fitter will raise non-conformance issues.
  • The Mechanical Fitter will be working to set deadlines to achieve performance targets and Customer delivery commitments.
  • Install, test and repair hydraulic cylinders, pumps, motors and valves.
Skills Required
  • Must have the ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply instructions correctly to achieve required product quality.
  • Using hand tools as well as grinders and drills.
  • Previous experience working with hydraulics.
  • Must hold an Engineering Apprenticeship qualification within a Manufacturing/Engineering environment, or relevant recognised qualification (or extensive industry experience).
Hours of work
  • Monday-Thursday 7:30am-4pm.
  • Friday 8am-12pm.
  • Contracted hours are 36 hours per week.
  • Overtime is regularly available at an enhanced rate.
