Job summary

A leading food manufacturer is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their Kitt Green facility. You will play a vital role in maintaining Canmaking lines, ensuring optimum safety, quality, and output. The ideal candidate will have an ONC or equivalent qualification and experience as a time-served apprentice. Collaboration with Production Managers and adherence to engineering standards are essential. This position requires a proactive mindset and the ability to adapt and solve problems under pressure.

Job description

Mechanical Engineer [Canmaking]

Reporting To: Maintenance Manager

Shift Pattern: Various Patterns Available

To work as part of a multi-disciplined shift team to maintain the assets within the Centre to optimise the utilisation of the equipment and to deliver maximum volume at the right quality. Working closely with the Shift / Production Managers and technicians to provide a quick response to line breakdowns and to support asset improvement. To provide engineering and operational support to the Centre.

Key Accountabilities

To operate/maintain Canmaking lines ensuring optimum safety, quality, yield and utilisation, including;

  • To carry out maintenance duties to support production either planned or in support of breakdowns or commissioning
  • Will be trained to safely carry out work on equipment located in production areas across Kitt Green
  • Will be expected to use the SAP system to report work done and contribute to the overall effectiveness by assisting in planning
  • Will be expected to participate in training and to train others including apprentices
  • Will work to the highest Engineering standards to fully support RU and product quality
  • Proactive and willing to challenge the status quo and initiate improvements
Education & Experience
  • Qualified to ONC or equivalent level.
  • Time served apprentice
