At Cavendish Nuclear, we’re working to create a safe and secure world. Join us as a Mechanical Engineer at our Warrington, Leicester, or Preston sites.

The role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a vital role within our Cavendish Nuclear business, supporting decommissioning of redundant nuclear facilities, the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, and the operation and build of nuclear power plants. Our mission is to clean up the nuclear legacy and contribute to national security, energy supply, and net zero targets.

Our skilled team handles major defence, decommissioning, new build, and nuclear generation projects, winning over 78% of tenders. We innovate to make nuclear safer, faster, and more cost-effective, supporting UK’s Net Zero goals through projects like Hinkley C, Sizewell C, and X Energy.

Duties include:

  • Promote effective cooperation across engineering and other teams
  • Manage customer relationships through design interface and procurement support
  • Ensure procedures, codes, and standards are followed
  • Contribute to Product Safety Assessment processes
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders at a detailed level
  • Conduct technical investigations and analysis for problem-solving and improvements
  • Support process improvements within operational and design lifecycle
  • Apply engineering knowledge to produce technical solutions and documentation

Essential experience

  • Nuclear experience is not required; applications from all engineering backgrounds are welcome
  • Ownership, high performance, and willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Knowledge of CAD tools and general engineering drawing practices
  • Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships

Qualifications

  • Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent experience

The successful candidate must hold, or be able to obtain, SC security clearance.
