Mechanical & Electrical Technician

Location: Folkestone

Salary: Up to £60k PA + Benefits - dependent on experience and competencies

Type: Permanent

We’re looking for a hands‑on Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join a highly skilled engineering team working within a large, safety‑critical infrastructure environment. This is a varied and practical role where no two days are the same, offering long‑term development, autonomy, and exposure to complex electromechanical systems. You’ll play a key role in keeping essential systems running safely and reliably, while continuing to grow your skills through training, projects, and day‑to‑day engineering challenges.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, automation, hydraulic, and building services equipment
  • Completing planned preventative maintenance as well as responding to breakdowns
  • Accurately recording all work using a computerised maintenance system
  • Working closely with operational control teams to coordinate maintenance activities
  • Carrying out isolations and completing safety documentation correctly
  • Making sure systems meet required operating standards and taking action when they don’t
  • Supporting small improvement projects and helping to improve maintenance processes
  • Taking part in safety briefings, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues through training and teamwork
  • Being part of a collaborative engineering team, while progressing toward working independently
What we’re looking for
  • A mechanical or electrical qualification (ONC level or equivalent), or solid post‑apprenticeship experience
  • Previous experience working in an M&E maintenance environment
  • Hands‑on experience with industrial or automated systems
  • A full UK driving licence and valid passport
  • Additional language skills (such as French or another European language) are a bonus, but not essential
