You will be responsible for creating mechanical designs and providing support for engineering documentation. The ideal candidate has over 2 years’ experience in mechanical design, strong CAD skills, and is familiar with Design for Manufacture. Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience within a Mechanical Design Engineering role.
• Strong experience with 3D CAD design, ideally SolidWorks.
• Proficiency in BOM and Design for Manufacture.

Responsibilities

• Create tailored mechanical designs and system layouts according to customer specifications.
• Provide accurate engineering drawings and technical input to support quotations.
• Build and maintain detailed 3D CAD assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
• Prepare technical documentation, including handover info and installation instructions.
• Work with manufacturing partners to resolve engineering queries and optimize designs.
• Manage product updates and design revisions in line with company procedures.
• Support testing and quality documentation for compliance and certification.
• Contribute to the maintenance of the engineering drawing archive.

The Role

You would be working within a smaller Engineering team with custom / bespoke technical design work. You will report directly into the Engineering Design Manager and will work closely with stakeholders such as commercial, manufacture, and Product teams. The role is to develop ideas into clear, buildable solutions, from custom rig designs and layout configurations to engineering updates and production documentation

The role of Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer

• Create tailored mechanical designs and system layouts that align with customer specifications and project constraints
• Provide the Sales and Commercial teams with accurate engineering drawings, layout concepts, and technical input to support quotations and proposals
• Build and maintain detailed 3D CAD assemblies, manufacturing drawings, and parts lists to support production and procurement
• Prepare technical documentation including handover information, installation instructions, and controlled drawing releases for production
• Work closely with manufacturing and supply partners to resolve engineering queries and optimise designs for fabrication and assembly
• Manage product updates, engineering changes, and design revisions in line with company procedures
• Support testing, verification, and quality documentation to meet compliance and certification requirements
• Contribute to the maintenance and organisation of the engineering drawing archive and digital design database
• Offer wider technical assistance within the engineering function as required

Essential Criteria - Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer

• A minimum of 2 years' experience within a Mechanical Design Engineering role
• Strong 3D CAD design experience - Ideally SolidWorks but others will be fully considered
• BOM and Design for Manufacture
