MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
PERMANENT ROLE, BASED LIVINGSTON – EXCELLENT SALARY PLUS BENEFITS
Based in Livingston, Grw Talent's client comprises a group of European companies engaged in the design, development, manufacture and distribution of analytical systems, life science equipment and laboratory instruments with operations dating back many years. Now part of a global multinational business, their fast growing multidisciplinary scientific and engineering group is looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer.
The Mechanical Design Engineer supports the Project Manager and the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in delivering mechanical engineering activities across new product development, bespoke customer projects, sustainability initiatives, and product improvement programmes. The role is responsible for designing and developing mechanical products and systems, ensuring they meet required performance, safety standards, and specified technical requirements.
You will need to hold a qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline (minimum HNC level) and have experience working in low volume or bespoke manufacturing environments with a strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles, particularly relating to CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and optics handling. You'll also need good proficiency in SolidWorks (2018 or later) for assembly modelling and detailed component/part drafting. Desirable skills for the role include some experience in optomechanical design or work in related sectors such as dimensional metrology, avionics, robotics, or machine tool design, with hands on experience with SolidWorks PDM Professional and a familiarity with accessing or operating modules within ERP/MRP systems.
Although primarily needed to work on site you will likely be able to work from home once established in role. You will work a 37.5 hour flexible working pattern, that allows an early finish on a Friday. A comprehensive range of benefits including performance–related bonus scheme, death in service, group income protection, private medical insurance, pension scheme, paid holidays, subsidised gym membership, cycle to work and employee discount scheme. A competitive salary and package tailored to your experience is on offer for the right candidate. However, the chance to be part of something truly unique makes this too good to refuse.
