The Role: We are seeking a Mechanical Build Engineer to support the assembly, build, and installation of advanced electromechanical automation systems. This role is suited to an inquisitive and detail-driven engineer with strong hands-on skills and a background in CNC machining and precision mechanical assembly. Working alongside design, electrical, and controls engineers, you\u2019ll be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, building high-quality systems, and ensuring precision alignment and reliability. You\u2019ll also play a key role in testing, troubleshooting, and occasionally travelling to customer sites for installation and commissioning.

Responsibilities
  • Build and test bespoke electromechanical and robotic automation systems.
  • Review and interpret technical mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Carry out precision mechanical fitting, including bearings, shaft assemblies, and tolerance adjustments.
  • Operate and apply knowledge of CNC machining and machining processes to support system builds.
  • Use tools such as Dial Test Indicators (DTIs) for alignment and accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical build engineers and other cross-functional teams.
  • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving during build and commissioning phases.
  • Travel to customer sites (UK and occasionally overseas) for system installation and commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards at all times.
Qualifications
  • HNC, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical build, fitting, or assembly, ideally within robotics, automation, or special-purpose machinery.
  • Practical knowledge of CNC machining and machining tolerances.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
  • Experience with precision fitting, alignment, and tolerance requirements.
  • Proactive problem-solver with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Friday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
