Mechanical Assembler Operative required in Orpington, Kent

Role Overview for the Assembly Operator:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to carry out the accurate assembly of mechanical, optical, electronic, and hydraulic components and products. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to follow technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities for the mechanical assembly operative:
  • Assemble a variety of components to exact specifications based on engineering and schematic drawings
  • Perform soldering and wiring tasks to industry standards
  • Operate test instruments such as spectrometers and multimeters to ensure product quality and compliance
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments during assembly processes
  • Read and interpret technical drawings; lathe and/or CNC machining skills are desirable
  • Follow Health & Safety regulations and internal guidelines at all times
  • Carry out final inspection and packaging of assemblies for shipment
  • Collaborate with the Cell Team Leader to meet production targets
  • Support production by performing other duties as required
The successful assembly operator will need to have:
  • Hands‑on experience in mechanical, electrical, optical, or similar technical assembly roles
  • The ability to interpret technical and electrical drawings accurately
  • Strong soldering and wiring capabilities
  • Familiarity with a range of components including electronic, mechanical, optical, and hydraulic
  • Experience using lathe or CNC machinery (preferred but not essential)
  • Competence with various hand and power tools
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • A proactive, self‑motivated attitude and a willingness to learn
  • A collaborative approach, with flexibility to adjust to changing priorities
  • Physical capability for light lifting and manual handling as needed

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am - 4:30pm & Friday 8am-1pm

This is a 6 month contract, potential to lead permanent if company circumstances change or an outstanding work ethic is demonstrated.
