Job summary

£28,085 FTE (£23,189.10 pro rata per annum)

37 hours per week, 36 weeks per year

About the role

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic English and Maths Facilitators to support learners studying Functional Skills and GCSE. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by providing 1:1 and small group support in English and Maths, helping students gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

This is a facilitator role, not a teaching post, making it ideal for individuals with strong English and Maths skills who are keen to support learners, even if they do not hold a formal teaching qualification.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support in English and Maths (Functional Skills and GCSE).
  • Facilitate cover in the absence of Programme Leaders, supervising classes and supporting learning.
  • Support classroom teachers in developing engaging resources and maintaining displays.
  • Contribute to an activity bank of resources for students.
  • Assist with student registration, behaviour management, and liaising with teaching staff.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, and diversity at all times.
  • Support administrative tasks when cover demand is low.
About the person

The successful candidate will have minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Level 2, Level 3 desirable or willingness to work towards it.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, good organisational skills, and confidence using Microsoft Teams. You need to be flexible and be able to work under pressure be a positive role model for learners and strong relationship-building skills.

Prior experience in an educational setting or supporting learners is desirable but not essential.
