Overview

Jobstore are recruiting for a Market Attendant to work for one of our clients in Blackburn and Darwen.

Responsibilities

• To undertake cleaning, waste collection, labouring & other designated duties in Blackburn Market & Blackburn Bus Station.
• To sweep, mop & clean floors & surfaces, clean windows, clean public & trader toilets, operate mechanical scrubbing/sweeping machines, including “sit on” machinery, and high pressure washers or steam cleaners in order to clean the Market & Bus Station. You will also be required to help keep the Food Court clean & tidy during busy time. Clearing & wipping tables & sweeping/mopping the floor as necessary. Some duties will involve cleaning in awkward spaces or at height by using a platform lift.
• To collect & porter markets waste & operate waste compaction equipment, separate cardboard or other materials for recycling and use mechanical lifting & other equipment essential for undertaking these tasks.
• To carry out basic labouring duties & operate the electrical/mechanical equipment necessary for the efficient maintenance & servicing of the Market & Bus Station.
• To provide security watch as required in the absence of or to assist the designated security staff, particularly where there may be potential or actual violet, drunken or other behaviour which may cause a nuisance to customers & traders.
• To provide a first point of contact for customer or trader queries relating to the operation of the Market.
