Overview

Electrical Fitter — Marine section at Clyde, Faslane site near Helensburgh. Status: Onsite. Role type: Full time / Permanent. Location: Faslane, Helensburgh, GB, G84 8HL. Salary: £39,999 plus benefits. Job ID: SF62118.

Role
As an Electrical Fitter within our Marine Section, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary where you'll be key to the business. Day to day, you’ll undertake electrical fitting activities, repairs and inspections on systems and equipment in our Marine section and when required, in other sections including the Estate.

Responsibilities
  • Completion of all planned preventative maintenance and nuclear implicated work to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business
  • Identification and rectification of all system, manufacture, defects and alterations to ensure the continued availability and performance of the Marine Systems
  • Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity in accordance with set objectives and timescales
  • Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems of Work and control of work processes within BM&T Clyde policy

36 hour working week. 07:15 to 16:45 Monday to Thursday. Full time onsite at HMNB Clyde.

Essential experience
  • Previous experience within a marine/industrial engineering environment and/or experience with electrical maintenance
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and in inclement weather conditions
  • Ability to understand and read drawings; strong problem solving and fault-finding skills with high attention to detail
  • Attention to detail and a focus on producing high-quality work to meet rigorous acceptance standards
  • Experience of maintenance procedures, risk and COSHH assessments and Safe Systems of Work with excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
  • Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ or C&G equivalent) or HNC and above in Electrical Engineering with industry experience
Security clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security check level for this role. Many roles require national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions; eligibility may be affected by nationality, birthplace or residency. Details at GOV.UK.
