Working for a global leader in Luton, this contract role requires a competent Manufacturing Test Engineer for an immediate start.
Responsibilities
- Work with engineering department to define and develop cost effective testing strategies and techniques to be performed with respect to hardware and software modules within the system and to be the owner of the sustaining activities throughout the lifecycle of the product.
- Design, implementation and maintenance of test rigs suitable for the production test PCBs.
- Deploy procured test equipment effectively and efficiently into the manufacturing environment.
- Support capital investment plans to ensure all test solutions meet the ongoing business needs.
- Creation of requirements specifications and robust statements of work against which suppliers can quote for the procurement of test equipment and software.
- Responsible for the regular review of all the test equipment hardware and software during every phase of manufacturing, ensuring effective operation and maintaining production test procedures.
- Write clear and unambiguous process and product documentation when necessary, and provide training to relevant production personnel on all newly introduced test equipment.
- Ensure all test equipment is compliant with relevant safety requirements.
- Experience with a range of test systems such as ICT, Flying Probe, HV and Final Product Testing.
- Ability to develop and modify software solutions using NI TestStand, LabVIEW, ANSI C, LabWindows CVI languages.
- Support diagnosis and remedial actions to facilitate product rework.
- Knowledge of SQL and MySQL databases.
- Participate in a culture of continuous improvement, refining and defining procedures and processes to ensure good quality product meeting cost and time-to-market objectives.
- Adopt best practices and demonstrate excellent problem solving skills. A Six-Sigma background would be valuable.
