Market 36 Recruitment is looking for a Manufacturing Team Leader on behalf of our client based in Braintree on a permanent basis.
Our client seeks a skilled and reliable Manufacturing Team Leader to join their team at Braintree. The role is a pivotal, hands‑on position responsible for steering the day‑to‑day operations of their assigned department. The successful candidate will champion a safety‑first culture, ensure all work adheres to the highest health and safety standards, drive operational excellence, and achieve production performance targets while guaranteeing exceptional product quality through effective people leadership.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage a team of 6 – 10 operatives.
- Drive the team to consistently achieve cycle‑time adherence, ensuring all products are built and assembled to meet time‑critical deadlines.
- Proactively manage the maintenance, certification, and repair of all section instruments and tools to ensure maximum availability and operational readiness.
- Support with alleviating day‑to‑day production issues as they occur, providing staff with clear guidance on how to resolve issues efficiently.
- Ensure critical information (e.g., targets, performance feedback, company updates) is clearly communicated to the team through daily SQCDP briefings and regular team briefings.
- Act as the central communication point for the section, liaising effectively with all other departments (e.g., Warehouse, Quality, Engineering) to ensure the smooth, uninterrupted running of the shift.
- Apply HR policies and procedures consistently and fairly across all direct reports, including but not limited to the effective application of TNA, sickness absence management, return‑to‑work meetings, occupational health checks, investigations and escalation where appropriate.
- Work with the team to achieve and maintain a section Right‑First‑Time (RFT) rate of 95%, actively reducing product defects and rework.
- Ensure no product leaves the section for dispatch without passing all required quality checks, actively working to identify and eliminate root causes of defects.
- Ensure all team members are fully trained on and adhere to all Risk Assessments (RAMS) and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs).
Experience, Education & Qualifications
- Manufacturing/Construction environment experience.
- Ability to demonstrate successful management of a team of multi‑skilled operatives.
- Team management/supervision skills.
- Effective knowledge and application of best practical application.
- Health and safety conscious.
- Administration of documentation and required business systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all areas of work.
Salary: Competitive (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday: 6am – 3pm
