Job Summary: The primary task of the Manufacturing Maintenance Technician is to ensure that all machinery is fully operational on a daily basis. They will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining and carrying out repair work as and when required.
Responsibilities include ensuring all planned maintenance is carried out and servicing records are kept up to date. Additional tasks may include carrying out basic electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems repairs and maintenance while taking care of other low level day-to-day maintenance tasks.
The Maintenance Technician will be required to liaise with and support appropriate external contractors.
Duties:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive mechanical maintenance across all sites and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems, pumps, mixers, and filling lines, particularly those used in chemical/paint processing.
- Build, modify, and install machinery to suit customer-specific requirements.
- Repair tanks, vessels, and other mechanical plant infrastructure as needed.
- Carry out building and site maintenance checks, including fire safety systems, emergency lighting, compressors, and interlocks.
- Liaise with external contractors and suppliers to oversee planned and emergency works.
- Use CMMS software to log maintenance work and plan tasks.
- Support H&S Manager with environmental compliance, including COSHH checks and safe handling of hazardous materials.
- Contribute to the company's health and safety culture, performing risk assessments and promoting a safe working environment.
- Creating and manage a maintenance plan for the organisation's equipment.
- Establishing/update maintenance policies and procedures.
- Conducting frequent quality checks on equipment to ensure required maintenance as required.
- Completing emergency maintenance when equipment breaks down.
- Keeping a record of preventive and emergency maintenance carried out on the CMMS.
- Ensuring the organisation complies with safety regulations as maintenance takes place.
- Follow a maintenance schedule to ensure that all routine tasks are completed on time.
- Carry out any adhoc tasks within the capability of the role of Maintenance Technician.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar maintenance role.
- Educated to GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English, Math's and a Science subject, chemistry or Physics preferred.
- Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge and skills to operate equipment and repair systems.
- Physical strength and dexterity for carrying heavy loads, climbing to significant heights and working in awkward spaces.
- Good time management skills, as they may have multiple tasks and issues happening concurrently.
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with supervisors, colleagues, contractors and landlords.
- Good customer service skills.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills to identify issues and effectively deal with them.
- A full and valid UK driver's license.
- Good IT skills and able to use maintenance related software such as CMMS.
- Forklift Truck(FLT) Counter Balance/reach licence.
