Job summary

A specialized recruitment agency is seeking a Manual Machinist for a permanent role in Gloucester. The successful candidate will have proven experience in manual machining, particularly in a precision engineering environment. Responsibilities include manual machining, reading engineering drawings, and using various inspection equipment. Preference will be given to candidates with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, as well as CNC experience. Competitive salary and shift patterns offered.

Overview

Position: Manual Machinist

Position type: Permanent

Location: Gloucester

Salary: £37,125 inclusive of shift allowance

Working hours: Double days, Mon–Thu 06:14–14:00 and 14:00–22:00; Fri 06:11:30–11:30 or 17:00

Responsibilities
  • Manual Machining – Milling or Turning
  • Eccentric turning
  • Experience in working with cylindrical components
  • Understanding engineering drawings and ability to work out angles and dimensions
  • Experience with inspection equipment such as callipers, micrometres (all types), gauges, and DTI
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a manual machinist in a precision engineering environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (preferred but not essential)
  • CNC experience (preferred but not essential)
