Manager, Vocalink Product and Customer Account Management – First Line Risk Management

Overview

This is an opportunity to be part of the Product and Customer Account Management function in Vocalink Limited, the UK company that enables the payments of 90% of salaries, 70% of utility bills, most ATM transactions, and every cheque cleared in the UK.

The successful candidate will become part of a high-functioning team, dedicated to delivering a robust, secure, and resilient service to 60+ million citizens every day, with a transactional volume of 13 billion a year and a total annual transactional value exceeding £10 Trillion.

Vocalink products include Bacs Direct Credits, Bacs Direct Debits, Faster Payments, the LINK ATM network for cash withdrawals, and the Image Clearing Service (ICS) that supports cheque clearing.

You will report to the Vocalink Risk Director – Commercial Services, and work closely with other Product and Customer Account Management team members.

Role

In this role, you will be responsible for strengthening our risk governance, risk culture, and risk change across Vocalink Product and Customer Account Management. You will also participate in the wider Vocalink Risk Champion community and monitor audit issues. Responsibilities include:

  1. Risk Governance
  • Report on and maintain key risk information in VLL’s system, including Risks, Controls, Issues, Actions, Policy Exceptions, Risk Events, Escalations, Acceptances, and Risk Metrics.
  • Support Risk Owners in discharging their responsibilities such as risk reviews, committee actions, treatment plans, and issues management.
  • Represent the function’s views in risk governance meetings and working groups.
  • Facilitate risk reviews, RCSAs, and assurance activities with relevant teams.
  • Risk Culture
    • Support embedding risk management policies into BAU operations.
    • Act as the first point of contact on risk management matters within the team.
    • Promote a “think risk” culture through discussions and practices.
  • Risk Change
    • Participate in risk-related operational or technological changes, including transformation projects and policy updates.
    • Collaborate on cross-functional risks and transfer of risks between registers.

    Additionally, you will:

    • Provide monthly updates of key risk information to Risk Owners via agreed formats to ensure data is current.
    • Support adherence to risk escalation processes for timely reporting of material risks and breaches.
