Job Description

We are looking for corporate insolvency/restructuring professionals for our client in Bermuda. The successful applicants will work on a range of cross‑border insolvency & restructuring engagements, often interesting, complex corporate insolvency work. The position provides the ability to gain exposure conducting investigations into misappropriated assets, assisting with the sale of assets, gaining financial services exposure (particularly private equity funds, hedge funds and insurance companies), and managing statutory reporting, amongst other tasks. Understanding liquidations in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations, financial statements and reports is key to success in this role, so tends to favour candidates with more core insolvency rather than restructuring experience. The job location is Bermuda and would be an on‑site role on a 2 year minimum contract (promotions and pay rises can occur during the contract).

Responsibilities
  • Participate in cross‑border insolvency and restructuring engagements.
  • Conduct investigations into misappropriated assets and assist with the sale of assets.
  • Gain financial services exposure (particularly private equity funds, hedge funds and insurance companies).
  • Manage statutory reporting and understand liquidations in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
  • Improve processes, procedures, regulatory compliance and drive improvement in overall quality in the delivery of insolvency services as a core senior member of the Quality & Risk Management team.
Requirements
  • University graduate and qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA, CPA, etc.) or holder of a professional insolvency qualification (CPI or JIEB).
  • 3 years+ corporate insolvency/restructuring experience (or at least 12 months of insolvency experience from an audit background).
  • Experience in the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Ireland, Australia or another established common‑law jurisdiction.
  • Relocation and work‑permit package will be provided.
Compensation and Benefits

Competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience, approximately US$85,000 – 90,000 salary (low tax), relocation package, and other benefits.

  • No income tax – salary and bonus income tax‑free (only a small payroll tax applies).
  • Small payroll tax: 0.5% on “$0–48,000”; 9.25% on “$48,001–96,000”; 10% on “$96,001–200,000”; 11.5% on “$200,001–240,000”; 12.5% above. Example: a remuneration package of $80,000 would incur a payroll tax of 4.00%; $100,000 would incur 5.08%; $120,000 would incur 5.9%; $240,000 would incur 8.2%.
