JSS are delighted to be supporting an insurer based in south London with finding an experienced Finance Manager to lead the month-end close process, ensure accurate statutory reporting, and provide operational support across the finance team. This role requires a hands‑on approach, strong technical expertise, and the ability to maintain compliance in a regulated environment.

Job Details

£50,000-60,000 PA + benefits. South London or Surrey - 2 days per week. Permanent.

Responsibilities
  • Own the month-end process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of journals, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Prepare management accounts and variance analysis for leadership review.
  • Maintain integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts in line with UK GAAP and liaise with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with FCA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage tax filings and support VAT returns.
  • Oversee payroll processing and ensure accurate submissions to HMRC.
  • Assist with expense management and process improvements.
  • Maintain robust internal controls and implement process enhancements.
  • Monitor cash flow and support treasury activities.
  • Act as a key point of contact for auditors, banks, and external partners.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide financial insights and operational support.
Experience / Qualifications
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Prior experience in insurance or an FCA regulated environment – essential.
  • Strong experience in month-end close, statutory accounts preparation, and audit liaison.
  • Knowledge of UK GAAP and regulatory FCA compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
