Job description
Management Accountant

Our client in the retail/consumer goods industry are looking for a new Management Accountant to join their team in London. Reporting into the Finance Manager, this is a brilliant opportunity to join a high growth business and take ownership of the internal finances.

Key responsibilities
  • Support the finance team in preparing accurate monthly management reports.
  • Take ownership of key reconciliations, including prepayments, accruals, and asset registers.
  • Manage invoicing processes and ensure correct revenue recognition.
  • Oversee weekly payment runs and maintain compliance with internal procedures.
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Collaborate with operations to reconcile stock movements and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including monthly depreciation postings.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Assist with payroll data preparation and reconciliation to ensure timely payments.
  • Uphold internal control standards and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Continuously review and enhance financial systems and processes.
  • Contribute to year-end reporting and support external audit requirements.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to junior team members.
  • Undertake additional finance‑related tasks as required.

The ideal candidate will be a part qualified Accountant (ACCA or CIMA) with broad exposure to management accounts and general finance processes in a fast moving business. Experience in retail, FMCG, manufacturing or similar is ideal, with exposure to a smaller, high growth, business being a bonus. Strong technical ability and systems exposure will be necessary to support their growing finance team and take ownership over the processes.
